Curriculum Vitae
John Goldberg graduated B.Sc. (1953), B.E (Hons) (1955), M.E. (1963) and
Ph. D in 1986. from the University of Sydney. He retired from the CSIRO in 1989 after 30 years service with the National Measurement Laboratory and attained the rank of Senior Principal Research Scientist. He joined the Faculty in 1990 as an Honorary Associate. He is cited in the Dictionary of International Biography (IBC, Cambridge, 1998).
Since joining the Faculty his research interests have been directed towards environmental science, of concern to the community, particularly aircraft and road noise, planning matters related to roads including financial, legal and economic aspects. He has acted as a mediator in technical-legal disputes.
He has participated in Commissions of Inquiry in NSW, both as an expert witness and as advisor to the Commissioner, has given evidence as an expert witness to the NSW Land and Environment Court, and to tribunals in Victoria and Tasmania. He also took part in the Federal Senate Inquiry into aircraft noise in Sydney. Some of these matters have been presented to international conferences and have also been used as the basis of lecture material for various courses given in the Faculty. He acts as an examiner of theses for higher degrees.
He has continued to hold the position of assessor for the National Association of Testing Authorities (NATA) and was officially recognized by that organization for past service.
